The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has finalised the names of 172 candidates who would run in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election in’ first three phases. On Wednesday, the names were finalised at a meeting of the BJP’s Core Committee.
More than 300 seats were discussed at the conference at the BJP headquarters in the national capital, but only 172 names were finalised. These names will now be presented in the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on Thursday, which will also include Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP will announce the candidacies of these 172 individuals in the following days once the CEC has stamped the final list of candidates.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, and BJP UP election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan were all present on the second day of the three-day conference.
The BJP headquarters meeting began at 11 a.m. on Wednesday and lasted until 1:35 p.m. today. The meeting had lasted more than 10 hours earlier in the day on Tuesday.

According to the Election Commission, the first phase will have 58 members, the second phase will have 55 seats, and the third phase will have 59 seats.
