People who are at high-risk for infectious coronavirus disease must abide by certain steps in order to stay safe. As per two Hong Kong virus experts, high-risk people should be wearing two face masks to protect themselves from the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 disease. The city of Hong Kong is making efforts to protect its people from the outbreak of the highly infectious variant.

A famous microbiologist Yuen Kwok-Yung said to the local radio that people having severe illnesses or who are unable to get Covid-19 vaccines along with high-risk workers such as airport staff could also make use of double masking, which helps to improve filtering abilities.
The suggestion comes after Omicron is said to have spread at programs and events where people were found to be wearing masks already. Hong Kong, along with mainland China is following a strict coronavirus-free policy. Thus, the places are in partial lockdown for two weeks with gyms, cinemas, primary schools, kindergartens closed as dozens of locally-spread cases of Omicron were found.
The move to use higher mask protection against Omicron is not limited to just Hong Kong. Even in the United States, the possibility for new health suggestions from experts is releasing a move for higher-quality N95 masks and increasing prices.
Yuen also recommended the lack of requirement for the widespread adoption of N95 masks in Hong Kong considering the low case count. N95 masks are costlier and it makes it more challenging for some people to breathe in and use them on a daily basis.
