During the Cooch Behar Trophy match between Uttarakhand and Karnataka, Indian national team head coach Rahul Dravid and his wife Vijeta were seen cheering on their son Samit. While Dravid is on vacation, NCA head VVS Laxman is filling in as coach for the current Twenty20 International series against Australia. Samit, son of Dravd, bowled five overs at the close of Day 1 and allowed eleven runs, two of which were first-ball boundaries. Also, after 90 overs, Uttarakhand reached 232 not out. The captain, Aarav Mahajan, scored 127 runs (including 18 fours) off 236 balls, an outstanding performance.

Samit scored 55 runs (off of 84 balls) and hit two boundaries (off of five deliveries) to help Karnataka win the Cooch Behar Trophy match by five wickets. It was a loss for Himachal Pradesh. His side lost against Delhi, but he scored 51 runs off 122 balls. Rahul Dravid has been effusive in his compliments of the BCCI since his contract was extended. The board decided to keep him on as head coach beyond the 2023 World Cup, even though his contract was meant to end then.

“I want to thank the BCCI and the Office Bearers for believing in me, backing my vision, and standing by my side throughout this challenging period. Since our job demands a lot of time away from home, I appreciate the sacrifices and support from my family. The crucial job they have done behind the scenes is invaluable. “We are still dedicated to striving for greatness as we take on new challenges after the World Cup,” he said.

By the end of Day 1, all-rounder Samit had taken two wickets and scored zero runs off of eleven overs. Uttarakhand achieved 232/9 in 90 overs, thanks to 127 runs (including 18 fours) by captain Aarav Mahajan off 236 balls. In the Cooch Behar Trophy, Karnataka beat Himachal Pradesh by five wickets, with 84 runs scored by Samit (55 not out off five deliveries). He scored 51 runs off 122 balls in a losing effort against Delhi.

After renewing his contract, Dravid thanked the BCCI and his family for allowing him to spend the hectic cricket season away from home with the team. Despite Dravid’s tenure as head coach of the senior men’s national team, which finished at the end of the 2023 World Cup campaign, the cricket board extended his contract after “productive discussions” with the former India captain.

The former India coach’s two young children are also playing professional cricket. Anvay is the U14 team captain, and Samit is a Karnataka player for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

Rahul Dravid will accompany the Indian squad on their upcoming trip to South Africa. The match between the Men in Blue and the Proteas will consist of two Tests, three Twenty20 Internationals, and an equal number of One-Day Internationals. While Rohit Sharma is injured, Suryakumar Yadav will take charge of the Twenty20 and One-Day Internationals.
