First-time Woman Officer Takes Command of an Indian Navy Ship

On Friday, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral R Hari Kumar, said that the Navy has appointed its first female commanding officer on a naval ship. Addressing a press conference in advance of Navy Day, Admiral Kumar stated the implementation of the Agnipath scheme has been a transformation.

It is stated that in March 2023, the first engineering batch graduated with the highest triumph status. And importantly, this batch of Agniveers consists of 272 girl Agniveer trainees as properly,” Admiral Kumar stated.

As same as the 2nd engineer batch has a team of 454 women. In 3rd  batch, the team had more than 1000 women in the Navy.  

The Chief of Naval Staff asserted that those statistics stand testimony to the Navy’s philosophy of all roles and all ranks with reference to the deployment of girls in the agency, both for officers and for personnel beneath the rank of officer.

Admiral Kumar also said that we appointed the first female commanding officer of an Indian naval ship. We have attempted to constantly assign the reputation quo to make sure that the army stays on an aspirational and dynamic trajectory in the future. 

If we look at this year with past years, we agree that women in the Navy Navy Navy are more numerous. We have left a mark throughout numerous sectors and spheres, be it the financial front, diplomacy, or the sports arena,” the Admiral stated.

In this way, the Indian Navy has remained a combat-ready, credible, cohesive, and future-evidence force, enabled by what we name our ship’s first outlook, in which each unmarried motion that we take is aimed to permit our women and men in the operational devices to perform that duty very well.”
