The purpose is to prevent Centre from changing history, says Bihar CM
Ranchi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met his Jharkhand counterpart Hemant Soren on Wednesday.
After meeting Soren, Kumar said that their talks were connected with forming a united opposition against the BJP for Lok Sabha elections next year.
Kumar was accompanied by his deputy Tejashwi Yadav. The three leaders held the discussion at Soren’s residence and it continued for one hour.
Kumar said their talks were about forming a strong opposition front that would be visible in the next Lok Sabha elections.
The efforts of the opposition will be to check the Centre from making changes in history and restore Hindu-Muslim unity, he said.
The purpose of the meeting was to bring anti-BJP forces together and to challenge the ruling dispensation in the parliamentary election to be held in 2024.
Kumar snapped his ties with the BJP last year and vowed to defeat the party in the Lok Sabha elections.
As part of his plan, he toured different states and held talks with the leaders of various political outfits.
On Tuesday, the Bihar Chief Minister met his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik at the latter’s residence in Bhubaneswar. Their talks continued for one hour.
Kumar recently held talks with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav.
Apart from that, Kumar and Tejshawi Yadav met Congress president Mallikarju Kharge. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also present at the meeting.
He also held talks with NCP president Sharad Pawar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, CPIM general secretary Sitaram Yachury and others.
Kumar, however, said that he did not long for the post of Prime Minister.
He is keen on bringing the opposition leaders together, so that they can become a formidable force in the Lok Sabha election.
