A woman was allegedly kidnapped, stripped and assaulted by three people, including two women, in Bengaluru over the non-payment of loan interest, police said.

According to police, the accused also recorded a video of the woman while she was naked and threatened to circulate it if she failed to repay the money.

The incident came to light after the victim’s mother approached Chandra Layout Police Station and filed a missing-person complaint. Acting on the complaint, police traced the woman and rescued her.

Three people identified as Reshma Banu, Nazath and Reshma’s husband Suhail were subsequently arrested in connection with the case.

Woman Had Borrowed Rs 1.5 Lakh

Police said the victim had borrowed Rs 1 lakh from Reshma Banu around two years ago. She later borrowed another Rs 50,000 from Nazath through Reshma.

Investigators said the woman later faced financial difficulties and stopped paying interest for around six months. She had also reportedly failed to pay loan instalments for two months.

Following this, she allegedly blocked Reshma’s phone number and moved to her mother’s house.

Called on Pretext of Work, Then Allegedly Assaulted

According to police, Nazath contacted the woman and asked her to come to her house on the pretext of offering her work.

When the woman reached the location, Reshma and Suhail allegedly arrived and assaulted her.

Police said the accused attacked the woman with a knife before forcing her into an autorickshaw. She was then taken to a house near Kumbalgodu, where she was allegedly confined and assaulted.

Accused Allegedly Recorded Video and Threatened Victim

Police further said the accused stripped the woman and recorded a video of her.

They allegedly threatened to circulate the video publicly if she failed to repay the money.

After the woman went missing, her mother lodged a complaint with Chandra Layout Police Station. Police then launched an investigation, traced the location where the woman was allegedly being held and rescued her.

The three accused were arrested following the rescue operation.

A case has been registered at Chandra Layout Police Station under relevant sections of law.

Police said the investigation is continuing into the alleged kidnapping, assault and threats, as well as the role of each accused in the incident.
