New Delhi: A 19-year-old youth committed suicide by jumping into the Yamuna on Saturday evening, the police said on Sunday. A resident of Karawal Nagar area in New Delhi, the youth, identified as Rajat, jumped off the Signature Bridge in Timarpur area. He was studying as well as doing a part-time job in the Karol Bagh area.

The police further said that the youth had left his house in the morning and jumped into the river on his way home in the evening. No sooner had he jumped into the river, two divers tried to save him, but as the river was swollen, he drowned. His body was fished out after a few hours. Since no suicide note was found, the police could not ascertain the cause of such an extreme step, sources said.
