HRD Ministry renamed as Ministry of Education

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has approved the new Education Policy 2020. It will be announced later by the government. Along with this, the name of the Ministry of Human Resource Development has also been changed. The Ministry of Human Resource Development will be renamed as Ministry of Education.

The new academic session due to corona virus epidemic will begin in September-October. In such a situation, the government aims to introduce a new education policy before the new session begins. The draft policy also suggested that the Ministry of Human Resource Development should be re-registered as the Ministry of Education. Earlier on 1 May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the NEP, 2020.

The draft was drafted by a panel of experts led by K Kasturirangan, former head of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Concern was raised about the imposition of Hindi by some non-Hindi speaking states on the draft of the new education policy. The HRD ministry assured them that their concerns would be addressed.

Earlier, Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had said that many issues related to this area have been resolved in the new education policy. He said that after the new education policy, it will be easier for the youth to get higher education than before.
