How to grow your career in coronavirus lockdown

As coronavirus cases are increasing upward on a daily basis, it is unlikely that government will lift social distancing restrictions soon. If you are working from home in coronavirus lockdown, then you may have enough time to dedicate on learning life-changing skills that can accelerate your career.

1) Enroll in online courses:
One can be a lifelong student if they are interested to be so. Dedicate 30 minutes a day in learning a course of your career interest and choice. This will help to shift your mind to a productive activity that will help you in the long-run.

2) Improve your reading speed:
As everything is going to be digital sooner or later, it is important that you master speed-reading skill in this lockdown. Start with a reading speed of 200 words per minute and eventually improve on it.

3) Make ‘planning’ an important habit in your life:
Every successful man’s secret is he has a plan. If you lack planning skills, this is the best time to learn how to set realistic goals and work on your commitments.

4) Time to speak well:
You may be an introvert but that shouldn’t stop you from improving your verbal communication skills. If English is a hard language for you, then time to listen to TedTalks, motivational videos on YouTube and improve your listening and public speaking skills.

5) Good writing skills:
Work from home is going to continue for a longer period than you might have imagined earlier. Hence, it is time to improve your written communication skills by learning how to draft better emails, how to respond to clients in an effective way etc. To improve this skill, start reading and writing corporate communication blogs of about 250-500 words on a daily basis. This will surely help you in your career growth.
