Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday organized an online meet with Sundar Pichai who is the technology giant Google’s CEO (Chief Executive Officer).

In the interaction, Modi talked with Pichai on how the company Google intends to take part in the electronics manufacturing ecosystem’s expansion and growth story in India. Firstly, Modi praised Pichai’s Google for partnering with Hewlett Packard (HP) and launching Chromebooks in India.

Modi also recognized the initiative of Google to introduce 100 languages in its AI tools available and that too in Indian languages. He also appreciated the company’s efforts to work on AI tools for the right governance and management.
Modi also acknowledged the company’s plans to set up a global fintech operations center at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar. Pichai also gave feedback to Modi about Google’s ideas to enhance the financial inclusiveness in the country by creating a strong network and spreading the use of GPay and UPI.
Pichai also spoke about how Google is committed to ensure that the development trajectory of the country goes higher. PM Modi also invited Google to become a part of the forthcoming Global Partnership on AI Summit, which will be hosted by India in December 2023 in New Delhi.
Earlier this year, Pichai had met Modi when Modi had visited the United States. He had mentioned how it was an honorable moment for him to meet Modi during his historic visit to America. He also announced that Google will be investing $10 billion in the digitization fund of India.
Pichai had also appreciated back then Modi’s vision for Digital India which was ahead of time and he saw that as a blueprint for other nations to follow the same path.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai when had came to India also came to meet Modi during his visit in December 2022. After meeting Pichai, Modi had posted on X, which was earlier known as Twitter that he was happy to meet Pichai as they discussed more about innovation and technology. He also commented on how vital it is for the world to collaborate with each other and support technology for the prosperity of humans and sustainable development.
It is really interesting to note how Pichai being an Indian had made a career in the top company of the world like Google. It is also great to see him supporting India through important initiatives taken by his company. No doubt India has changed since Google was introduced in the last 20 years.
Internet was so costly back then in the early 2000s when middle-class audiences couldn’t even afford has been transformed in such a manner in the last two decades that even poor and lower economic classes can access to Internet and learn information.
Also, we have to appreciate the efforts by the team at Google who are ensuring that knowledge is not only accessible in the matter of a click but also understandable by translating the information in various languages of the country, which is indeed the right way forward.
