So, what is it that you need to understand about this quickest regional rail service, which will help travelers to go from Delhi to Meerut in simply 1 hour’s timeframe?
You will be amazed to note that the RRTS is designed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which is a joint venture of the Government of India and the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Set up after signing the memorandum of understanding between the central government and the four states on June 29, 2011, NCRTC was formally launched as a firm on August 21, 2013.
The construction work of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor started in 2019. The first look of the new train was revealed in 2020.
Don’t get confused that the RRTS train is similar to the Metro rail because both of them are entirely different. We will tell you here the difference. RRTS has an operational speed of 160 kilometers per hour against the Metro’s speed of 80 kph.
A Metro train usually takes three hours to complete 100-kilometer travel, however, an RRTS will cross that distance in merely an hour. Isn’t that lovely?
Well, this is the first-of-a-kind project that is being launched in India and will be followed closely by the Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat corridors.
Delhi-Meerut corridor distance will be 82 kilometers that will cover 24 stations to be traveled in simply an hour’s timeframe. You will be amazed to note that the RRTS stations will be combined with different metro lines, airports, and bus stands.
On 15 September 2023, NCRTC announced the setup of the RRTS viaduct which crossed over the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro corridor and has been completed successfully.
You will be dumbfounded to note that the project cost for the construction of the RRTS comes to a huge amount of ₹30,274 crore. The project has received funding from the Asian Development Bank, New Development Bank, and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
Let us not underestimate the power of women employees as you will be surprised to note that the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor has got more women brains working for its set up than men.
So, are you really delighted to find this amazing piece of news? If you are staying near these three areas, then we are sure you are really waiting to get the project completed and take a ride in this new fast train.
