New Delhi: Amid speculations that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may be the opposition’s prime ministerial candidate in 2024, Kumar who was in Delhi on Monday met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and discussed with him the country’s current political situation, sources said. How to ensure unity among the opposition parties also figures in their discussions. Kumar recently walked out of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party and formed a government of the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) with the RJD, the Congress and outside support of the Left.

The Bihar chief minister arrived in Delhi on Monday. He is likely to meet several opposition leaders including Sharad Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party (NC), Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and head of the Janata Dal (S) HD Kumaraswamy. He will also hold talks with the Left leaders and president of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav.
