Patna: Leader of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) supremo Nitish Kumar took oath for the eighth time as Chief Minister of Bihar on Tuesday. The Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Congress, the Left Parties and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) supported Kumar.

Similarly, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was administered oath as deputy chief minister. In the past 48 hours Bihar saw a huge political turmoil after JD-U snapped ties with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party.  Former chief minister and wife of Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, wife of Tejashwi Yadav, Rajshri and Tej Pratap at Raj Bhavan in Patna. Kumar said that he had the support of 164 legislators.
