Nitish appeals to all opposition parties to join hands before 2024

Date:

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has urged all the opposition parties to come together before the general elections to be held in 2024. He made the statement immediately after taking over oath for the eighth time as the chief minister.

Kumar joined Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) on Tuesday and formed a government with the support of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Congress, the left and the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) of former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi. After he exited from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), there are speculations that he may go to national politics. Kumar, however, rejected such speculations as baseless.

He wanted to know whether those who had come to power in 2014 would emerge victorious in 2024. Although Kumar appealed to the opposition parties to jointly fight the general elections in 2024, he said that he would not be a contender for the post of Prime Minister. He made the state at a press conference.

According to reports from New Delhi, Union minister Nityanand Rai said that Kumar would never become the Prime Minister of the country, since the post is reserved for Narendra Modi.

He said, “The people of Bihar as well as of the entire country have made up their minds and blessed Narendra Modi to be the prime minister for lifetime. The people of the country will not accept anyone else as their prime minister as long as Modi is there.”
