Uttar PradeshSP, BJP slugfest over fulfilling Ujjawala Yojna promises goes on

Date:

Lucknow (UP): There is a slugfest between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) over distribution of LPG cylinders among the poor on Holi and Diwali.

The SP has said the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reneged on its promise to provide free LPG cylinders to the poor.

Nevertheless, the BJP denied the charge. Party leader Manish Shukla accused the SP of lying. He said, “The UP government is number one in the country in terms of fulfilling the promises made to the people.”

SP posted a video clip, reportedly made in Kanpur Dehat on social media, which shows a group of people saying that they have been deprived of LPG cylinders under Ujjwala scheme during Holy and Diwali.

The SP tweeted in Hindi, “The Adityanath government is number one in Making false promises. At the time of the elections, the BJP had promised to give one cylinder free of cost to Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries on Holi and Diwali, but nobody got it.”

The Yogi Adityanath-led government is working for the poor and for the development of the state, Shukla said, adding that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav seems to have followed the Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal in telling lies.

As far as fulfilling promises goes, the record of the UP government has been outstanding, Shukla said.
