Noida (UP): Four construction workers lost their lives and eight sustained injuries when an under-construction caved at Jail Vayu Vihar colony in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida on Tuesday, the police said. Twelve people were buried under the debris.
Several JCB machines were pressed into service to remove the debris of the wall to extract the bodies. As soon as the administration got information, police and fire brigade officials rushed to the spot. Additional deputy commissioner of police (Noida) Ashutosh Dwivedi told reports that 12 workers were brought out of the debris. Four of them died and eight sustained injuries, Dwivedi said.
A similar incident occurred in Lucknow where nine construction workers including three minor children died when the under-construction wall of a building fell at Dilkusha in the city. The wall collapsed because of heavy rain that lashed the city last week. In a complaint lodged in connection with the incident, it was stated that the contractor had used sub-standard building materials to construct the wall which caved in.
