Kanpur (UP): Parents are perhaps oblivious of what extent their children are addicted to porn sites and how much impact such sites have on their kids. The stories about children’s addiction to porn sites sometimes shock the parents as well as the other people in society.
Such a horrifying incident occurred in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh where a ten-year-old boy violated a seven-year-old girl after watching a porn site on his mobile phone, the police said on Sunday.
According to station house officer Pankaj Mishra, the youngster, who was detained, confessed to his crime.
A case has been registered against the boy under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The boy was sent to a juvenile home, Mishra said.
The girl, a student of class three, was alone at home when the incident occurred, her father said, adding that when he and his wife returned, they found her crying, and she was so scared that she was shaking.
The family members informed the police about the incident. The boy said he had watched a porn film on a relative’s mobile before committing the crime.
According to the Juvenile Justice Act, a person under the age of 18 serves only three years in prison, but the Act was revised to enhance the sentence for minors, aged from 16 to 18, who commit heinous crimes. In such a situation, a minor gets a minimum sentence of seven years in prison. The Act was modified after the Nirbhaya case in Delhi, which shook the nation.
