Twelve students and two teachers are among the fourteen people who perished when a boat capsized in Vadodara’s Harni Motnath Lake on Thursday. The names of the deceased victims, who include teachers and students, have been released and Sufiya Shaukat Shaikh, 13, is one of the supervisors undergoing medical attention. In addition to Rs 50,000 for the injured, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for each deceased person. Additionally the Gujarati government promised to pay Rs 50,000 to the injured and Rs 4 lakhs to the deceased’s next of kin.
