Community groups launched a protest after calling for a state-wide bandh in Rajasthan on Wednesday, in response to the death of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Jaipur.
The killing of their leader, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, on Tuesday led the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena and other community groups to sit in protest and call for a state-wide bandh on Wednesday. The neighborhood called for a court investigation into the situation. In a video posted by the news agency, community members were seen in Jaipur sitting in protest.
Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi had demanded security, according to Bhawani Singh Kalvi, son of Karni Sena founder Lokendra Singh Kalvi, who made this statement in the midst of the protest. The administration also had some correspondence and evidence that he might experience something similar. The reason why he was not given security is a major question mark.
Speaking about Gogamedi’s murder, recently elected BJP MLA Diya Kumari said, it is quite shocking that Mr. Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was killed in Jaipur. I lack the words to criticize this act. He had requested security for himself, but the congressional administration had not fulfilled his request.
Three men shot Gogamedi dead in the living room of his Jaipur home. According to the police, one of the attackers was also shot and killed by his companion, as reported by a news agency.
According to the police, they have identified two of the suspects who fired shots at Gogamedi on Wednesday. Makrana Nagaur native Rohit Rathore was named as the first accused.
The second defendant was named Ads Mahendragath, Haryana, native Nitin Fouji.
The attackers were captured on camera drawing their weapons and firing randomly at Gogamedi, who was seated on the couch across from them before collapsing. One of the attackers fired a close-range shot at a motionless Gogamedi, who was lying on the ground, before running away.
In the meantime, authorities said that Governor Kalraj Mishra has requested a report on the incident from the DGP. The raiders had gone to Gogamedi’s house in the Shyam Nagar area under the pretext of meeting him, and one of his security guards was shot during the exchange of fire with them. The raiders are from the Rohit Godara gang, and searches have been conducted to find the two attackers who managed to escape.
An alleged social media post by Rohit Godara, who is connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, is making the rounds online. In it, he purports to have given the order to kill Gogamedi because the Rajput leader was arming and supporting his gang’s adversaries.
After being kicked out of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena in 2015 due to disagreements with the organization’s founder, Lokendra Singh Kalvi, Gogamedi founded the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena.
