Ahmedabad: A charge sheet was filed against social workers Teesta Setalvad, retired director general of police RB Sreekumar and former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt in connection with 2002 Gujarat riots. The charge sheet filed by a special investigation team (STF) on Wednesday was related to alleged fabrication of evidence.
Assistant commissioner of police BV Solanki who is investigating the case told reporters that the charges were presented before the court of the chief metropolitan magistrate in Ahmedabad. On September 2, the Supreme Court recently granted interim bail to Setalvad who was arrested for alleged fabrication of evidence. The apex court said she should cooperate with the investigation team. Sreekumar, however, remains lodged in the jail in connection with the case. Similarly, the third accused, Bhatt has been lodged in a jail in Palanpur. He is serving life term in connection with a custodial death.
