Parents may be occupied with their own work and routine activities when children may want their attention when parents are at home. If your kid is someone who always wants to be by your side when you are at home, then really you need to have the knack to manage him or her without scolding or shouting. Because hurting them is like hurting yourself which you wouldn’t wish to do.

Here are some interesting ways you can keep your child engaged at home and also do your other work without getting disturbed:

1) Get a coloring book and many different colors:

Your child may or may not like to sit in one place for a long period of time. But you can keep him or her engaged by sharing how coloring the books can help him or her win a trophy or gift from you. You can make him sit for 1/2 hour for the start and then eventually increase the number of hours to spend his time coloring the books. Coloring books come in various shapes nowadays. Like cartoons, the book shape is also different. You can either give him coloring books of various cartoons or something that is useful for him to increase his focus and attention to one thing at a time. Even if your child resists using watercolors, you can encourage him to start with crayons and colored pencils.

2) Enroll him in a music or dance or skill classes:

Nowadays most of the classes have gone online. So, if you find it risky to send your child outside to attend any skill learning classes, you can enroll them in a class of their or your choice. If your child comes complaining to you that he doesn’t find any interest in singing or dancing, then you can change the skill to something that he or she likes the most (at least what they assume to love the most). This will keep them engaged and also improve their creative thinking skills.

3) Ask your child to assist you in housework:

Your child may be good at throwing things here and there and then enjoying seeing you picking up everything for him. But as your child grows, he needs to become disciplined and for that, you need to start asking him to assist you in house-related chores. It can be as simple as keeping the ironed clothes in his cupboard or asking him to keep his food plates in the washbasin. You can even teach him how you cook his favorite dishes by naming the vegetables and ingredients so that tomorrow when he wants to enter the kitchen, he is aware of at least the basics.

4) Encourage your child to switch off the TV or mobile phone:

Well, this is indeed a major task in today’s modern times to ask your children to avoid using smartphones and electronic gadgets. However, you need to encourage them to stay away from technology for a while and think about what they can do without it. If your child says, he would like to play with something indoors without gadgets, then appreciate him for the idea and ask him to follow the same.
