Gudi Padwa is celebrated on 25 March 2020. The festival is observed as the traditional new year for Marathi and Konkani Hindus. The celebration of Gudi Padwa is done by creating colourful rangolis, keeping a special Gudi flag, dancing and preparing tasty festive foods. Gudi means Brahma’s flag and Padwa means the first day of the bright phase of the moon. It is believed on this day, Lord Brahma recreated the world after a natural calamity destroyed all the people. That’s why Lord Brahma is worshipped during the festival. Also, another story says that on this day, Lord Brahma returned to Ayodhya with his wife Sita and brother Laxman after his 14 years in exile.
