A man from Karnataka’s Udupi district was allegedly murdered in Sharjah, UAE, with his dismembered remains later found inside a car parked along a route towards Oman. Details of the killing emerged nearly two months after his family became concerned over his unexplained disappearance.
The victim, identified as Alwin Prakash Kunder, had been living and working in Sharjah for several years.
According to his brother, Prakash’s body had been cut into nine pieces and packed into two bags.
Adding to the mystery surrounding the case, Prakash’s wife, Tina Kunder, and their teenage son are reportedly untraceable. Some reports have suggested that they may have left Sharjah and possibly travelled to India. However, their current whereabouts remain unclear and authorities have not publicly established any connection between them and Prakash’s murder.
Worked at Sharjah Airport for Around 14 Years
Prakash had reportedly been employed at Sharjah Airport for around 14 years and was living in the UAE with his wife and their son, who studies in Class 10.
Tina, who is also from Udupi, worked as a school teacher.
Prakash’s brother, Anil Prashanth Kunder, said he tried contacting him around July 20.
Although Prakash did not answer the phone, Anil received a text message saying that he was fine.
The response raised concerns within the family because, according to Anil, Prakash usually communicated through voice messages rather than text.
When he tried contacting his brother again about a week later, there was still no response.
Family Initially Told He Had Travelled to India
Concerned about Prakash’s whereabouts, Anil contacted his brother’s classmate Manohar, who was living in Sharjah, and asked him to check on Prakash.
Manohar went to the accommodation provided to Prakash by his employer. According to the family, the building’s watchman told him that Prakash had travelled to India.
The company’s human resources department also reportedly initially informed the family that he had returned to India.
Anil, however, told the company that Prakash had not reached India and asked officials to verify his whereabouts.
A subsequent check of his passport and travel records reportedly indicated that Prakash was still in Sharjah.
A missing-person complaint was then filed.
Body Found Inside Car
During the subsequent search, Prakash’s remains were discovered inside a car parked along the route towards Oman.
According to Anil, the body had been dismembered into nine pieces and packed into two separate bags.
The remains were later identified as belonging to Prakash.
The circumstances surrounding the killing remain under investigation. Sharjah authorities have not publicly disclosed the identity of any suspects or established a motive for the crime.
Wife and Son Reportedly Missing
Following Prakash’s death, attention has also turned to the whereabouts of his wife and teenage son.
They are reportedly untraceable, with some reports suggesting they may have left Sharjah.
Some reports have also raised suspicions about Tina’s possible role in the case. However, these claims remain unverified, and no confirmed information has established her involvement in Prakash’s death.
Prakash’s family has said it was unaware of any serious dispute between the couple.
Family Approaches Udupi Police for Help
After learning about Prakash’s death, his brother Anil approached the Udupi Superintendent of Police and submitted a representation seeking assistance.
The family is awaiting the completion of legal formalities in the UAE before Prakash’s remains can be brought back to India.
They have also sought more information from Sharjah authorities about the circumstances of the murder, how and where the remains were discovered, and the whereabouts of Prakash’s wife and son.
Udupi police are currently awaiting official communication from authorities in Sharjah as the investigation into the killing continues.
