HealthBreast Cancer Awareness Month 2022: Prevention and Early detection Help

Date:

According to several surveys and reports conducted with regard to breast cancer, it is found that every four minutes a woman is detected with breast cancer disease in India and one woman dies of it every thirteen minutes.

Our country has a very low survival rate for this fast-spreading disease. The primary reasons are ignorance, late detection and stigmatization attached to it.

As we all know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, lets’s dig deeper and find out the early symptoms to stay safe!

The easiest and simplest thing one can do is to keep the body in check. Yes, breast cancer in its very early stages can be noticed and controlled if you see or feel a presence of a lump in the breast or the underarm area.

Doctors share the common reasons and factors that increase the risk of breast cancer which are : weight gain, lack of exercise, excessive stress, and late working hours/ sedentary lifestyle. They advise that irrespective of your body condition, you should examine your breast on a daily basis while taking a shower or otherwise. If you feel there is a lump-like formation, or your breast skin is unusual; these can be the symptoms.

One should also keep observing the nipple areas if there is redness or flaky skin in that part. Thickening, swelling, change of shape/size, and pain experienced in the breasts could be other related symptoms.

The most important next step is to visit a doctor if you see any such symptom and get yourself diagnosed. Even if the reason for the condition is not cancer, it is always good to consult and take medical expert advice to protect and keep your body healthy.
