Prime Minister Narendra Modi established the Indian Space Association (ISpA), an industry group aiming to be the voice of the country’s space sector, on Monday, emphasising his government’s commitment to reforms, saying the country has never had a more resolute government. PM Modi asserted that the government’s success in privatising the government’s loss-making state airline, Air India, demonstrates its dedication and seriousness.

He explained that the government’s objective on the public sector is to open up areas where it isn’t needed to private businesses. The prime minister mentioned the opening of a number of areas to private companies, ranging from space to defence, and stated that his government has prioritised national interests as well as the requirements of many stakeholders.
He claims that India’s changes are taking place on such a large scale because the country’s vision is clear, which is to create an “Aatmanirbhar Bharat.” India, according to Prime Minister Modi, is one of the few countries with end-to-end space technology. The government is assisting industry, young innovators, and start-ups as a partner, and will continue to do so, he stressed.

He explained that his government’s approach to space reform is built on four pillars: allowing the private sector to innovate freely, the government acting as an enabler, young people being prepared for the future, and seeing the sector as a resource to aid the common man’s progress. The ISpA will help India become self-reliant, technologically advanced, and a prominent actor in the space arena, it added, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”
