When your boss micromanages your work

EducationWhen your boss micromanages your work

Date:

News about recession in the US, losses to recover during the coronavirus pandemic times, cost-cutting initiatives, and employees getting sick are some of the shocking updates that can astonish both bosses and employees all over the world. It is not just that your boss has gone crazy but anyone who sits in the boss’ post and sees all the negativity going around him can become mad sooner or later. Until and unless they have a very good professional mindset and ways to overcome the losses despite all the hurdles.

Concept of the day: Employee empathy

So, if you got from your boss saying that you need to report each and everything that you do to him, then understand that you are wasting time with an idiot who has nothing to do but keep removing his frustration with your work. Not everyone is lucky to grab another job immediately when the situation at work turns upside down. So, nowhere I am recommending you to switch to another job but only suggesting how to keep your sanity alive if your boss is sucking the energy out of you by criticizing each and everything that you do.

What to do when your boss keeps a tab on your social media

1) Be a sharer as much as you can:

I have seen employees who have most called it quits when their boss turns nasty towards them. After all, no one likes to get a call at night at 1 am asking for an update on work, and neither does anyone like to get their sick leaves canceled immediately and get called at the workplace. After all, where is humanity going if we all are becoming more or less like robots in the corporate world? So, when you keep getting comments instantly on your mobile from your boss who asks you the updates on each and everything that you are doing with your laptop at home or the computer at the office, don’t get tensed. Share things as they are but if you are being asked to rework quite often, then the time has come to talk to your boss face-to-face and understand his sort of expectations of work clearly.

2) Be mindful of what you listen to and allow in your system:

If your boss has become someone who greets you only with insults and ungratefulness, then it is okay to ignore his comments. After all, his negativity and pessimistic thinking should not affect your mind. Make sure to listen to only constructive criticism to improve your skills and leave the rest of the things behind. Do not get bogged down by the toxic work culture and feel free to talk to your HR manager if your boss’ way of working is making things worse for you.

You can show your boss how productive you still can be if there is no micromanagement of your work. If you like to work alone and not with a team, then say things as they are. Don’t hide your talents but give your boss a new perspective to work rather than tolerating all the verbal abuse and in the end, resigning from the workplace.
