The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has uncovered new details in the investigation into the death of former model and actor Twisha Sharma.
According to sources, Twisha’s husband and prime accused, Samarth Singh, told investigators that he stayed in Bhopal for two days after her death before travelling to Jabalpur, where he remained until surrendering in court on May 22.
The CBI is now trying to find out who helped Samarth while he was absconding. Investigators are examining whether anyone provided him with shelter, transport, or other support during his stay in Bhopal and Jabalpur.
Sources said Samarth has not fully disclosed details about the people who may have assisted him.
The agency is also expected to question doctors connected to the case. This follows claims made by Samarth’s mother, Giribala Singh, who alleged that Twisha was addicted to drugs and had consumed them in large quantities.
Giribala Singh claimed this was one of the reasons doctors approved a medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) procedure.
CBI officials are also looking into Twisha’s consultations with a psychiatrist and plan to verify whether the claims made by her mother-in-law are supported by medical records and professional assessments.
The agency will examine medical documents and witness statements to better understand the events leading up to Twisha’s death.
Twisha, 33, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12. The case was initially investigated by Madhya Pradesh Police before being transferred to the CBI.
Her family has accused Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh of dowry harassment, mental abuse, and physical harassment. They allege that the treatment she received after marriage pushed her to take the extreme step.
The allegations have been denied by Giribala Singh.
Last week, the CBI arrested Giribala Singh after the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled her anticipatory bail.
Investigators are now expected to confront the mother and son with each other’s statements as they work to establish the exact sequence of events surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.
Twisha’s family has also accused Giribala Singh of trying to influence the investigation by circulating CCTV footage from the family home after obtaining bail. The CBI is examining those allegations as part of its ongoing probe.
