UGC allows students to pursue 2 degree courses at the same time

In an encouraging move, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved a policy wherein students will be allowed to pursue two degree programmes simultaneously.

It means if a student is doing a programme in English in a regular mode from Delhi University, he will be also allowed to take up a Journalism or Literature course from IGNOU or any other distance learning institute / university.

Earlier, it was not allowed for students to take up simultaneous degree programmes even in distance learning mode.

However, now in order to improve the career prospects, students can pursue two or more programmes from the same university or different universities. But as regular course requires minimum attendance, hence the second degree has to be done through distance or online method only.

The committee will announce the detailed guidelines soon.
