Lucknow: A one-week National Workshop on Research Methodology for Social Sciences is being organized from 26thFebruary-2ndMarch 2020, by the Department of Business Administration, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Urdu, Arabi-Farsi University, Lucknow. The workshop is being sponsored by U.P. State Higher Education Department.
In the inaugural session that took place today,Prof. A.K. Tripathi, Director,Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow was the Chief Guest. He emphasized on improving the quality of research. Further, He remarked that teachers should be given sufficient time to pursue research with proper resources. He expresses the desire to draft a MOU between his institution and the university which would focus on fusion of biological research and social research.
The Keynote Speaker of the session was Prof.(Dr.) B.K. Bajpai, Director, GIRI Institute of Development Studies,Lucknow, who underlined the importance of research work in Universities. Referring to the MOU, signed between both the institutions, Prof. Bajpai, remarked that the joint Ph.D. programme has received great response from the stakeholders. By citing examples from various social situations, he talked about various research methodology challenges and issues.
The session was presided over by Dr. Syed Taghi Abedi from Canada, who also spoke at length about the contribution of medical sciences towards social development. Thisoneweek national workshop is being organised under the patronage of Prof. Mahrukh Mirza,Hon’bleVice Chancellor, KMCLU. During his address, Prof. Mirza remarked that the University will be starting research and pedagogy in various national and international languages soon, in order to increase employment opportunities for both the research scholars and students of the University.
The Convenor of the programme is Prof.(Dr.)Syed Haider Ali,Department of Business Administration. The objective of the workshop is to impart knowledge on Research Methodology in the context of quantitative and qualitative research, along with training in advance Statistical Package (SPSS) across the various fields of Social Sciences.
The first technical session was conducted by resource person from J-GATE. He shared various valuable insights on the role of J-GATEas a platform to discover all scholarly e-journal literature.
Another lecture was organized on the topic, “Somnath Khyali In Ghalib’s Poetry”which was delivered by Prof. S. Taghi Abedi from Canada. He threw light on the life of Ghalib and shared some of his valuable couplets with the audience. The programme was well attended by the students and faculty members of the University.
