Corona virus is spreading through the air, scientists of 32 countries claim

New Delhi: 239 scientists from 32 countries have written an open letter to the World Health Organization (WHO). Scientists have claimed in the letter that small particles of the corona virus live in the air and can infect people. In this regard, these scientists have appealed to the WHO to modify the recommendation. It has been said that these dangerous viruses spread through airborne. This report has been done by American newspaper New York Times.

According to the WHO, the corona virus is mainly spread by the respiratory system. When an infected person coughs or sneezes, the virus comes out through it and spreads to the surface or infects another person. Therefore, WHO is recommending washing hands every few minutes for early prevention as our hands may come in contact with such surfaces. Precautionary masks and social distancing are essential.

On 29 June, the WHO stated in its new guideline that the virus can be transmitted through air as well, but is possible only during medical procedures. During this, aerosols or 5 μm small droplets are produced. According to the WHO such procedures include trachial intubation, non-invasive ventilation and tracheotomy among others, and healthcare workers are exposed to such risks.

Dr. Benedetta Allegranzi, WHO’s chief of technician in infection control, told the New York Times that we have seen many times, especially in the last few months, and believe that the virus can be spread through the air. But certainly no concrete or clear evidence has been found so far. He further said that this has been strongly debated. Experts say that Covid-19 originates through the air and can infect people. According to the claim, droplets float through the air when a person sneezes.
