Due to economic downturn caused by coronavirus epidemic, it has been reported that many companies across the world are laying off its employees and workers. If you are among those who have been given the pink slip or you have lost your job, here are some tips to tackle the situation:

1) Avoid taking it personally:
Salary cuts and job layoffs are not in anyone’s control, including the organization’s. You would be shocked to get the unexpected news but the economic problem is everywhere. It’s not about you or any single employee but a global health crisis that is beyond your control.

2) Don’t become too emotional:
Feeling disappointed, shocked, irritated, angry are all natural. But don’t keep the bitter feelings inside you for a longer time. Let such emotions go. Understand that when one door closes, another door of opportunity opens. Optimistic thinking will help you find a way.

3) Turn your lows into highs:
Probably, you were unable to take a break from work for many years due to various commitments. But now is the right time. You can utilize the time to learn a new job skill, enroll for a new training program and search for a better job prospect in a good organization. Thinking in this direction will help you reframe your negative situation into a positive one.

4) Set a realistic budget:
Prepare for a financial chart for the next 6 months to one year. Getting a new job in this crisis time may take time than usual. But do not lose hope. Set a realistic figure in your mind for your expenses. You can break your emergency funds at this time only if required. Creatively analyze how you can create a win-win budget that doesn’t pinch your pockets.

Lastly, improve your confidence levels and actively lookout for a job. Believe in yourself and your abilities. If you wish to get a job soon, you will get surely.
