New Delhi: The Congress’ 3, 570-km Bharat Jodo Yatra is going to start from Kanyakumari on September 7. Before that, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will take part in a prayer meeting at former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s memorial in Sriperumbudur. Aside from that, he will attend a prayer meeting in Kanyakumari where Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will hand over the national flag to Rahul Gandhi, Congress sources said on Friday.

The event will be held at the Mahatma Gandhi Mandapam where Stalin will also be present. Rahul Gandhi, along with other Congress leaders, will walk up to the venue of the public rally from where the party will launch the Yatra. The Yatra will arrive in Kerala on September 11 and cover the state for the next 18 days. They will stay in Karnataka for 21 days. The party has classified 118 leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, as Bharat Yatris. They will walk 25 kilometre a day to cover the distance from Kanyakumari to Srinagar in Kashmir.
