Bangaluru: Sixteen people were arrested for issuing death threats to Congress leader and former Karnataka chief minister Siddarmaiah, the police said on Saturday. The arrests were made in the wake of a death threat issued to the Congress leader for his remark against VD Sarvarkar earlier this week. Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavraj Bommai ordered a probe into the matter on Friday. Bommai said that his government had taken the issue seriously and that no one should make such statements that instigates the minds of others.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing even heckled the Congress leader’s convoy. The BJP workers showed him black flag and raised slogans against him in Kodagu district. One of the party workers even threw a photograph of Savarkar at Siddaramaiah and eggs at his car.
