Dakshina Kannada: A youth was allegedly hacked to death in Mangaluru district of Karnataka on Thursday evening after the murder of a Bharatiya Janata Party leader Praveen Kumar Nettaru, sources said on Friday.

The youth was murdered immediately after Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai had visited the family members of Nettaru. Both the murders stoked tension and panic in the state. The youth was a resident of Mangalpete near Surathkal, on the outskirts of Mangaluru. Meanwhile, the authorities clamped prohibitory orders in four police stations.

According to reports, a group of people came in a car and moved towards the youth who was standing outside his shop. When he tried to run away, they chased and attacked him with lethal weapons. After he slumped to the ground, the miscreants escaped and the youth died in a hospital. The CCTV footage of the incident sent shockwaves through the state.
