The child’s father is working as an engineer for the electricity department, and his mother is an employee in the district court. Therefore, they employed Rajni to look after their child. When they observed that the child was getting weaker day by day and came to know through the CCTV camera that the toddler was being tortured, they threw her out of the job, the police said.

The engineer lives with his wife, parents, and a mentally challenged sister. His mother takes care of his sister and ailing father, so they hired Rajni to look after the child.  When the woman lost her job, she threatened the couple saying that she would implicate them in false cases. Though Rajni returned to her job, she did not change her behavior. She continued to torture the child and, on the grounds of the CCTV footage, the couple filed a complaint at the police station.  The woman has been arrested, the police said.
