News Desk – Cyclonic storm Ditwah, which had been hovering close to the north Tamil Nadu–Puducherry coast, continued to move slowly northward on Sunday (November 30, 2025), and began to lose strength.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), the cyclone was moving at about 5 kmph over the southwest Bay of Bengal on Sunday morning. At that time, it was around 80 km away from the coastline.
By Sunday night, the system weakened into a deep depression and stayed parallel to the coast. Around midnight, it was expected to remain over the Bay of Bengal at a minimum distance of 30 km from the Tamil Nadu–Puducherry coast.
Rainfall Forecast for Monday
For Monday (December 1), the RMC has predicted:
Light to moderate rain at isolated places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry–Karaikal
Thunderstorms and lightning at a few locations
Heavy rainfall expected in parts of Tiruvallur district
Wind and Sea Conditions
Wind speeds are likely to reduce gradually on Monday, becoming squally at:
45–55 kmph, with gusts up to 65 kmph
The sea, which has been rough due to the cyclone, is expected to improve steadily from Monday morning and continue getting calmer thereafter.
