On the heels of a rape and murder of a minor girl in Etawah district, another minor girl was raped in Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred when the 16-year-old girl was going to her farmland. The rapist has been arrested.
Mainpuri (UP): Crime against women continues unabated in Uttar Pradesh. On the heels of a minor girl who was raped and set afire in a village in Etawah district of the state, another minor girl was raped in Mainpuri district.
The incident took place on Saturday, the police said, adding that the rapist was arrested.
The youth was arrested on the grounds of a complaint filed by the father of the minor girl who was violated in a field. When she returned home and related her tale of woes to her father, he took her to a police station and lodged a complaint against the culprit who lived in the same village where the girl resides.
According to superintendent of police Kamlesh Dixit, the youth violated her when she was on her way to her farmland. The you dragged her to an isolated place and raped her, Dixit said, adding that the accused was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act
