Even the Ministry of Railways released an official statement to make the public aware of the special trains recently. “In this ongoing festive season, for the convenience of rail travelers and to the clear extra rush of passengers, Indian Railways is running 2269 trips of 179 special trains (in pairs) till Chhath Puja this year,” read the official statement.
The statement also added that these special trains will allow passengers to book their seats using the official website of Indian Railways or the NTES app. In order to keep the passengers safe and secure, the Railway Police Force has also added more personnel at the railway stations. Moreover, officials have been also tasked at different sections to make sure that the train services are smoothly running without any disturbances or errors.
Cornering of seats, and overcharging are some of the malpractices that passengers do and thus, the vigilance staff and the security will keep their eyes on passengers. Also, the Railways have taken measures to announce the arrival or departure of trains on a regular basis and in a timely manner with platform numbers to avoid any confusion for the passengers.
The report comes at a time when other reports of trains getting constantly canceled and rescheduled are doing the rounds. It is natural to travel during the festive season, but if you can skip this period to travel to different places, you will save a lot of time and money as well. Inflation is rising and so is the cost of travel tickets and accommodation facilities are also rising.
As the coronavirus pandemic has reduced, there are more people who want to roam outside freely with or without their family members during the festivals of Dussehra and Diwali this year. Instead of being a part of the crowd, you can call your local friends and relatives to your home and be a part of the grand celebrations at home itself. This will also help you to save a lot of money that may get used if you decide to travel to another city during the festive season.
