Shruti Rastogi,on her everyday morning walk, noticed the children begging, ragpicking and smoking. She decided to give education to these kids because according to her “Education is the only weapon which can change the world. ” Shruti left her job as a college lecturer and started teaching these kids. Earlier she faced so many problems but due to her firm determination to teach these kids, she never stopped.
She teaches everyday in a slum near rangoli mandap, garh road, meerut.Some of whom then go on to take lessons at nearby government schools.
Every week shruti gives them snacks and other things and in a month or two party is organised for these kids.
Subjects covered include English, Hindi, science, mathematics, general knowledge and environment science.
The lessons have no school bell, seats or tables and there is only one wall on which she hangs the board and students sit on the mat.
Shruti also gives them vocational training so that they can earn their livelihood in future. This is how a teacher is changing the life of slum area kids
