New Delhi: In Palghar, Maharashtra, three people were beaten to death by the villagers after being pulled from car on suspicion of being a thief. After which about 100 people of the village were detained by the police. The incident took place around 10 pm on Thursday night. According to Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Sagar, some policemen reached the spot and tried to rescue the victims, but the police personnel failed due to the large crowd.

The identity of these three people going in a car from Mumbai has not been identified. According to the police officer, the bodies have been sent to the government hospital in Palghar.
According to locals, the car was attacked after stopping the car on Dhabri-Khanvel road near Gadchanchal village. After getting out of the car, the attackers attacked him with stones and other objects suspected of being thieves. All the attackers have been booked under sections 302 (murder) of the IPC, including the crime of armed rioting and 188 (disobeying order).
