Geneva: WHO (World Health Organization) Chief Tedros Adnom Ghebreyes said in a video conference of the UN Economic and Social Council on Monday that about 7-8 top vaccine candidates are working fast to combat the corona virus.
The director general of the health organization said, “Two months ago, 12 to 18 months were being speculated about the availability of the corona vaccine. But during this period of epidemic, work has been done very fast.
Tedros said, “The leaders, organizations and banks of 40 countries have helped about 60 thousand crore rupees ($ 8 billion) in a week for research, treatment and testing of the virus.” However, he also said that this amount is not enough, given the expenditure on the vaccine.
Tedros said that we will need more money to work on the vaccine faster. After developing the vaccine, it will have to be produced in large quantities so that no person is left untouched in any corner of the world.
Tedros said via video conferencing, ‘We currently have around 100 vaccine candidates, of which 7 or 8 can be expected to produce better results. Work is progressing fast on all 7-8 vaccines that give good results.
However, Tedros has not given any information about which options have been marked in the top vaccine. He said, “WHO is working rapidly with thousands of researchers around the world, from developing animal models to designing clinical trials.”
Tedros reported that a group of more than 400 scientists are also active for the discovery of vaccines and diagnostics. The Chief of WHO said that Korana is a very dangerous virus, which has so far affected more than 4 million people and more than 2,75,000 have died.
Tedros reported that cases of corona have declined in Western Europe. But the virus is still growing rapidly in Eastern Europe, Africa, South-East Asia, East-Central Sea and some other provinces.
