Gopeshwar

It is believed that the town has got its name from Lord Krishna. The main attraction of this town is the temple of Lord Shiva, which is visited by several people each year. There is a trident of Lord Shiva made of 8 metals and as high as 5 mt in the temple premises, which cannot be removed from its place by anyone. Only if a person with a devout heart touches this trident, he or she may feel a slight shiver run down the spine. Another essential site to visit in Gopeshwar is Vaitarni Kund, where pilgrims can take a holy dip.
