Well, the Modi government has always been promoting the importance of cleanliness through its Swachh Bharat Mission program for many years. And now with the coronavirus pandemic entering our lives, cleanliness has become the most important thing. For example, you need to compulsorily keep washing your hands and face with soap water when you are at home, in case you plan to go out then you must use a sanitizer and keep your mask covering your nose and mouth if you want to stay safe and protected from the COVID-19 effects.
Since many state governments are advising people to work from home and not go out of their homes, let us make sure that the place where you are spending most of your time nowadays i.e. your home be clean. Now, what is cleanliness? Well, cleanliness has no limited definition. It is not just removing the dust particles and keeping stuff neat at the home but also removing the unwanted and outdated items from your cupboard, your drawers, your bookshelf, and all those storage areas where you have kept things untouched for many years.
It was an old habit of people to keep storing stuff because they used to think that we need not buy items in the long run or during crisis times, these items will be used. But that just might have not happened in many people’s lives. For example, my parents still have kept the old phone, old books from my school, old clothes and old vessels that were broken and cannot be used further. They didn’t really feel the need to throw them away because they felt it will be used some or the other day. However, now times have changed and it was me who during the Christmas vacation helped them in giving all those things to a raddiwala.
You won’t believe but as old stuff goes out of the house, you are actually making room for new things. For example, the moment I gave away my old clothes to the needy, something good happened to me (not literally) but in my mind. I felt stronger and believed that having a simple and minimalistic approach in life helps us to focus on what is there with us and what we can do further in our lives, rather than sitting with the past and regretting what didn’t happen or work for us.
