Before the beginning of the special session, Chief Minister Adityanath said that it was a historic day, when a special session was reserved for the female members of the House.  He also appealed to Speaker Satish Mahana to relax the rules for women members and allow them to speak as much as possible. Adityanath also delivered a speech on women empowerment.

Leader of opposition Akhilesh Yadav said that the changes were visible and contribution of women in various fields was increasing. Therefore, their contributions cannot be ignored, he said, adding that it was Uttar Pradesh which gave the first woman chief minister, Sucheta Kripalini. He also voiced concern over rising incidents of crime against women in the state.
