Yogi-led Uttar-Pradesh government has announced to implementation of “Tithi Bhojan” in the mid-day meal scheme after the Union government of education expressed its consent for the states to follow.
The scheme was first initiated by the Gujrat government in 2014, following which the government has asked religious groups and charitable trusts to actively participate in the practice. The scheme aims to provide nutritious food to the children and promote them to actively participate in education. The government further aims to promote the standard of educational institutions.
The government’s main aim was to counter the malnutrition issues among the children in the country.
According to the information received regarding the scheme is that the food will be prepared in the schools, following all the guidelines to maintain the hygiene and standard of the foods that will be served to the students. The scheme also focuses on the participation of religious communities to provide food to a large population.
Delicious traditional Indian foods will be included along with mil-based products such as paneer, kheer, and daliya. Foods like burgers and pizza will also be served on occasion.
“Tithi” actually means special occasions so the foods will be served on special occasions like any event, birthdays festivals, etc. The foods served will be ensured with proper nutrition and hygiene.
According to the information received normal citizens can also contribute according to their choice. They can contribute a full meal or some part of the component like raw vegetable pulses cereals etc.
