Sitapur: An incident was reported in Uttar Pradesh where a man named David Asthana was arrested on Monday night for allegedly converting the Hindus to Christianity.

According to the information received Nimisha Gupta a resident lodged a complaint against a couple from Lucknow who was forcefully converting the Hindus under the influence of Brazilian tourists.

The couple was identified as David Ashthana and Roshini Ashthana and the Brazilian tourists who were accused were identified as Riyaldo Joses DaSilva, Magnolia Maro Laronzera, Gulheram Nascimento Edalgo, and Alexander D’Silva.

Nimisha Gupta further alleged that the accused were meeting the residents of the village and forcefully converting Hindus to Christianity.

According to the information received Circle Officer Mahmoodabad, Ravi Shankar Prasad, said, “No sooner did the police get the complaint about the illegal religious conversion than we reached the spot to detain the accused. The Brazilians further stated that they were here in a tourist visa “.

The police further claimed that the investigation is underway and a case has already been registered against David and his wife. The police also said that the couple was unable to explain the reason for being with the tourist.

The police had assured that the statements of the villagers will be recorded for a proper investigation. The police had also said that they will investigate how the couple got in touch with the couple.
