Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is all set to implement the syllabus of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) from classes one to three in government primary schools from the next academic session (2023-24), official sources said on Wednesday.
Director general of school education of the state government Vijay Kiran Anand said that the basic education department had sent a proposal to the cabinet in that connection for approval, besides the students from class 9 to class 12 under UP Board are taught from the NCERT books.
He said that the NCERT books would be introduced phase-wise to government primary schools. At the outset, the students from class one to class three will be introduced to NCERT books and, then, the students of class 4 and class 5 will be taught from such books from the academic session of 2024-25. In the next session, the students from class 6 to class 8 will be introduced to NCERT books, the official said.
The UP government planned to implement NCERT syllabus for students from class 1 to class 8 from 2021-22, but it could not be done because of the corona pandemic. The official further said that the UP government has decided to follow NCERT books because most of the competitive examinations after class 12 are conducted on the basis of NCERT pattern.
