UP Receives Above Average Rainfall

Due to western disturbances and a cyclonic trough, Uttar Pradesh saw above-average post-monsoon rains in the previous 48 hours, which disrupted everyday life in numerous districts, including Lucknow. According to IMD statistics, the state got an average of 80mm of rain between October 1 and 19, 178 per cent higher than the typical 29mm of rain predicted for this period.

In the previous 48 hours, the state capital has received nearly 300 per cent more rain than usual. Showers with high gusts arrived in bursts on Monday afternoon, followed by steady rain on Tuesday. Due to the severe weather, trees were uprooted, and electricity was lost, resulting in waterlogging and traffic snarls in several city sections.

According to rain figures from the Indian Metrological Department, 34 districts in the northern sections of the state got above-average rainfall in the previous 48 hours, including Lucknow (IMD).

Temperatures in the Upper Peninsula were also lowered as a result of the heavy rains. In Lucknow, the minimum temperature has remained around 20 degrees Celsius for the past two days, while the maximum has remained at 27 degrees. Up till Thursday, the MeT department gave a similar prediction for Lucknow.

The rains frightened Kharif farmers who planned to begin harvesting their crops this week. According to agriculture expert Dharmendra Singh, farmers who have harvested their crops but have forgotten to store or sell them may be harmed much more by the rain.
