Bareilly (UP): An attempt to run a car into a restaurant for its staff’s refusal to serve food landed a relative of a minister of Uttar Pradesh in a police station in Bareilly district of the state, sources said on Friday. His aim was to hit the restaurant staff with his car.
According to reports, Amit Saxena, nephew of minister of state for Forest and Environment, Zoological Gardens and Climate Change (with independent charge), also reportedly abused and assaulted the restaurant staff on Tuesday night for their refusal to serve him and his friends as the food joint was closed.
When contacted, the minister said that the police must act according to the law and there should not be any laxity in it.
According to superintendent of police Bareilly Rahul Bhati, he tried to hit the restaurant employees who were taking food outside.
Bhati said that a case had been registered against Saxena and his two aides under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Saxena was arrested on Thursday and his two aides detained, the official said.
In a complaint, the son of the hotel owner Sushant Kashyap alleged that Saxena had allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh from him.
