Lucknow: More than 30 hours have passed since the 30-year-old lawyer jumped into the Gomti river in Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh, but the police are yet to recover his body, sources said on Friday.
Besides, his family members could not say anything about the reasons for his taking such a decision as to jump into the river. Teams of the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) searched for the body till Thursday evening, but they could not find it.
Lawyer Nasir Mansoor, who was practising in the high court, is a resident of Vibhuti Khand. He was to tie the knot next month. According to Station House Officer at Gomti Nagar police station Dinesh Mishra, he got a call from an unidentified person saying that a man had jumped into the Gomti river from the bridge and that a large number of people had gathered there. According to Mishra, the caller said that such a huge gathering of people on the bridge had caused traffic gridlock in the area.
Immediately getting the call, a police team rushed to the spot. A few witnesses told the policemen that a man clad in black trousers and white shirt jumped off the bridge after parking his two-wheeler on the road.
Then the police found the address of the lawyer from the registration of the vehicle and informed his family members, Mishra said, adding that Mansoor’s family had told him that the lawyer did not know how to swim.
